An Autobiography by G.P. Stewart
G. P. Stewart was born in Northern Ireland in 1906 and studied at Trinity College, Dublin, where he met fellow student Samuel Beckett. He then joined the Indian Civil Service, serving in northeastern India until 1947, apart from a period of interactions in Japan in 1942-45. He then settled in Nelson, working as a solicitor and serving as Coroner and City Councillor. A well-known local personality, he still lives in retirement in Nelson.
