Milking cows and drinking tea with the Mongrel Mob were just some of the everyday challenges faced by our early Plunket Nurses. In this fascinating and down-to-earth story, they recall the momentous task they were set, to “Help the Mothers and Save the Babies”. Not only did they improve the lives of generation of New Zealand mothers and babies, lowering infant and maternal mortality along the way, by they created one of the New Zealand’s most enduring icons.
