This history and biography has been written so that descendants of John and Ann Burr, and of John and Lydia Hoskins, through Amos and Lydia Burr and their brothers and sisters, will have some knowledge of their forbears, as well as the historical background in which they lived and their association with it. Although Amos and Lydia and their families had their weaknesses like all of us, they had many admirable qualities. They had great courage and determination to overcome many difficulties in the new colony to which they were early settlers and colonisers.
